HEALTH CARE

In 2015 under the sponsorship of the Most Reverend Stephen Tri Bửu Thiên, Bishop of Can Tho, and “The Social Work Agency” of Can Tho (Sở Lao Động Thương Binh Xã Hội Cần Thơ), the “Grace Center”  (Cơ sở bảo trợ xã hội Ân Phúc) was founded by the Franciscan Friars to provide mental care. A recent study shows that, although the local government operates two mental health centers serving 800 patients, there remain about 3,000 patients who need care.

Without financial resources, their families could not attend to them, leaving them to wander on the streets, prone to human trafficking. Many are kidnapped or possibly killed for their organs.

From 2015–2019, The Grace Center had accepted 90 in-patients—45 of whom have been successfully treated, have completely recovered, and have been re-integrated to their community. Their success encourages the Franciscan friars and the many volunteers serving the Center.

The surrounding community appreciates The Grace Center’s good work and often donates rice, instant noodles, and other necessities. In addition, several charity groups have visited the Center and assisted in some way.

VFVM is proud to support the Center. Our annual financial contribution goes towards the purchase of medicine. We invite you to join us and support this essential service. To know more, please contact:
